Tracie and Anna Riding Horses

Anna and TRacie

Anna and Tracie back of postcard

A postcard from Anna and Tracie to their Mama..sometime around the time Tracie was writing in her diary.  1912-1913

Anna and TRacie

It looks like Grandma in the darker dress .  In one of her diary entries she talked about going horseback riding with Emma to see Jim.  Perhaps she and Anna went to visit him also.

School Girls

This is a photo of Anna and Tracie..most likely around 1905- 1907.  Tracie would have been 10 to 12 years old.

Anna and Tracie young school girls

They look thrilled.  This is a common pose..looking straight ahead with no smile.   Photography was a challenge. Cameras sometimes needed 30 seconds or more of exposure time..so people were told to sit still and not smile because a smile was hard to hold for a photo.

This is a school photo that I found in the album.  I am not sure which school it is.   I can safely say it is a country school in Iowa.
