The Wittlands: Fred and Louisa

This photo is in the album. It is marked My Great Grandparents Wittland.

I think that these are the parents of Louisa Basch, the Grandparents of Louisa Basch Stuve..and in turn Great Grandparents of our Tracie Stuve Henderson.

Great Grandparents Wittland

I found them in the census quite by accident.  In the July 1870 Census there are listed Whittlands  at 20/21..and the Ferdinand Basch’s are the next entry at 21/22.   ( of course the spelling is different..but I believe that may be a census takers error.)  They both are living at Spring Lake Township,  Pottawattamie County,  Iowa.

Louisa 53  Prussia

William 30 Farm Laborer  Prussia

Mina 16  Missouri

Caroline 13 Missouri

Nica (unreadable) 11  Missouri

From this information..Fred and Louisa Whittland (Wittland) went from Prussia ( Son William born there about 1840) to Germany (Daughter Louisa born there about 1845)  to Missouri ( Daughter Mina born in 1854) and then to Iowa ( Grandchild Carrie is born there in 1864 and they live next door to daughter Louisa and son in law Ferdinand in 1870. )
